Standard Test Method: ASTM D4212 – Standard Test Method for Viscosity Measurement Using Dip-Type Viscosity Cups. The test liquid should be maintained at a temperature of 25°C, with fluctuations not exceeding ±0.2°C during measurement. To use: - Select the appropriate cup number based on the expected viscosity range. - Fully immerse the cup into the test liquid. - Measure and record the liquid temperature inside the cup, then remove the thermometer. - Use the finger loop on the handle to lift the cup vertically and steadily. - Start the stopwatch as the cup exits the liquid surface. Maintain the cup no more than 15 cm above the liquid level during drainage. - Stop timing at the first distinct break in the liquid stream. Maintenance: With proper care, the Zahn cup can last for many years. Clean with a soft cloth only—do not use wire brushes, sandpaper, or abrasive materials.
