Slats in the top layer are wide enough for water/soap slime can fall through a grate into the bottom. Excess water ends up in the soap bar holder, not on our sink or counter. so the soap drys quickly which saves on soap.Its a handy soap dish that comes apart so you can just separate the two part and rinses off fully with a quick rinse under the faucet and we dont have to dry it to put the soap back. They can also easily ride on the top rack of the dishwasher for regular cleaning.These soap dish tray are a polycarbonate material, sturdy, don't rust, light and very quet.
