The seat occupancy mat is a sensor located in the front passenger seat. This emulator simulates the presence of an occupant with the seat belt fastened. To activate the emulator, use a diagnostic tool to clear any stored error codes from the control unit related to the original seat mat sensor. After installation, use your diagnostic equipment to reset the system and turn off the SRS warning light. Safety-related fault codes cannot be cleared automatically. Prior to purchase, scan your vehicle using a diagnostic tool to verify that the SRS warning is caused by a faulty seat occupancy mat.
