This self-adhesive rubber strip replaces the top rubber section above the chrome trim that runs along the rear of the convertible, above the boot and quarter panelsthe area most prone to aging and sun damage. The rubber is pre-applied with 3M adhesive tape and measures approximately 2 meters in total length. Minor trimming may be required to fit the length and accommodate the third brake light. Instructions: Step 1: Clean the surface thoroughly to ensure maximum adhesion. Step 2: Position the new rubber strip over the flat edge where the old rubber was removed, overlapping slightly onto the roof material. Use additional adhesive if needed to secure bonding. Note: adhesive sets in under 15 seconds, so ensure correct placement. The new rubber has a slightly increased profile where it overlaps the chrome, improving appearance and restoring effective weather sealing while protecting stitching from UV exposure. This repair was tested on an R52 in December 2020 and has successfully endured multiple UK seasons, including winter and summer conditions. Avoid high-pressure washing of the roof area. Clean with a sponge and rinse with water. For added security, apply super glue (not included) in concealed areas to prevent lifting due to movement, or use a bead of silicone if necessary.
