Absolute magnetic angular position resolution is 14 bits (16,384 steps per revolution), with digital output via SPI interface. The AS5048 provides PWM output and supports SPI or I²C interfaces for absolute angle measurement with a microcontroller. No precise mechanical alignment is required between the sensor’s zero position and the magnet’s poles—the zero point can be programmed during assembly using standard SPI or I²C commands. Internal memory stores the programmed zero position. The AS5048 offers high operational tolerance, including misalignment tolerance between the sensor and magnet, air gap variation tolerance, and operation across a temperature range of −40 °C to +150 °C. The AS5048 magnetic rotary encoder delivers improved measurement accuracy compared to earlier magnetic rotary encoders. Its 14-bit analog front end enables angular resolution down to 0.0219 degrees. With microcontroller-based linearization and averaging, angle measurement accuracy reaches 0.05 degrees.
